Cut
Diamond cut is a critical factor that influences a diamond's beauty, brilliance, and how well it reflects light. Often considered the most important of the 4Cs (Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat), the cut of a diamond directly impacts its sparkle, as it determines how light interacts with and exits the stone. Unlike the other Cs, diamond cut is not about the diamond’s shape (such as round, oval, or princess) but instead refers to how well the diamond’s facets, proportions, and angles are crafted to maximize its visual appeal.
When a diamond is cut with precise angles, symmetry, and proportions, it optimizes the stone’s interaction with light, creating the three main aspects of diamond sparkle:
1)Brilliance: The bright white light reflected back to the observer, which gives the diamond its "brightness."
2)Fire: The colorful flashes that occur when light disperses as it moves through the diamond, breaking into rainbow-like hues.
3)Scintillation: The sparkle and pattern of light and dark areas within the diamond, which create an eye-catching contrast.
